  1. In-depth Assessment and Consultation: During a comprehensive academic assessment, we evaluate each Hastings student's strengths and areas for improvements, as well as academic goals. Through the consultation, it is our goal to thoroughly understand the wants and needs of the parents and student – including his or her academic history, hobby, interests, and extra-curricular activities.
  2. Personalized Learning Plan: We use the assessment results to tailor math instruction to the unique academic goals and learning needs of the student.
  3. Strategy & Practice: We equip our students with useful strategies that will help them tackle real-life math problems. Also, regular practice is a key to rapid achievements in a short period of time. Therefore, we use daily practice activities to reinforce the day's education.
  4. Communication with parents, legal guardians, and/or other teachers: We invite and welcome parental involvement. We value open communication and coordinate student math development with secondary parties, including: parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. Parents are regularly informed about the student's progress and alerted if parental support is needed.

How to find a high quality tutor for my child in Hastings MN?

1. Be informed - There is no licensure available for tutors in Hastings Minnesota. Therefore, it is important to seek out tutors with other credentials. Seek out a tutor with advanced education in math and advanced education in teaching methods. A bonus would be to have your student tutored by a licensed public-school math teacher, to ensure the instructor has been properly vetted. Unfortunately, most large tutoring companies prefer to use low-paid, part-time tutors that do not hold degrees or advanced education.

2. Experience matters - Seek out a math tutor in Hastings Minnesota that has experience working with students at a similar age group. This will ensure that the math coach has the know how to work with children at a similar maturity level and with a similar level of math knowledge.

3. Define goals - You should have goals defined in advance, prior to meeting with a tutor. Ask yourself, what would I like for my child to accomplish via math tutoring? Make sure to relay these goals to the instructor.

4. Personality matters - It is a good idea to meet the tutor before hand to ensure that you, your child, and the tutor connect, and are on the same page.

5. Seek references - High quality, experienced tutors will be able to provide references on request from previous employers, students, and parents. Competent tutors will be glad to provide references and take pride in their tutoring experience.
